My 12 year old son is my movie buddy. Not every one shares my excitement or insanity, depends on how you look at it, for movie going but it's ok. Luckily, my son doesn't have a choice.
My son asked, "On a scale of 1 to 10, how boring is this movie?"
"Not sure, 5ish maybe?" I really had no idea. I avoided reviews, didn't want to spoil too much of the film. I expected him fall asleep.
"Labor Day" is an adaptation of the book by Joyce Maynard. After seeing the movie, my son and I both would like to read the book. Surprising! I know, right?! Most often you read the book BEFORE the movie.
I thought it was a very tender movie. It moved along with a sweet ease.
Josh Brolin is rugged handsome. He has that kind of appeal that no matter what he does, it appears manly, tough & hot. (e.g., making peach pie, getting a pedicure) ***no pedicures happened in the making of this film***
Kate Winslet is beautifully amazing. Her American dialect is so convincing, I forgot she was English. I’m a huge fan and now, so is my son.
I give it 5 peaches! Too much of the fruit reference? I agree but it is very much worth a nice evening out. My son was not bored out of his mind, he actually enjoyed it almost as much as I did.
