Being a mother of a preteen and a teen of course I was interested in this movie but was a little hesitant, I thought my son would yawn at viewing a possible “too girlie” movie. However, it had enough action to hold his attention.
I recognized Lucy Fry, from Mako Mermaids: an H20 Adventure, a series I stumbled upon while trying to find something different to watch on Netflix. I watched the entire season. Don’t judge me, the kid in me likes Mermaids. I think Lucy is adorable in this movie, she is believable as the Princess Lissa and I love her Australian born dialect.
Zoey Deutch is super cute! She is Rose, the guardian and BFF to the Princess. She also acts as the comedic center of this movie. After viewing, she is now my son’s new crush. He shocked me by mentioning how he noticed her boobs. Not sure how I feel about my son growing up but it has to happen right?!
Danila Zoslovsky, is Dimitri, guardian mentor and trainer. Yes! A little something for momma! Danila IS the reason for Harlequin romances. Him, on the cover of anything, will make it sell!
Vampire Academy is based on the book by Richelle Mead. I did not know this, however, in my opinion Vampire Academy is the baby movie that the Twilight series gave birth to. So cute and cuddly. If you are a fan of the series, then you will enjoy Vampire Academy. If not, you may wanna RedBox it.
VA is up against some serious movie competition this weekend. Hopefully it will edge out enough of a fan base for the next installments in the series.
