Quick Views: Hot Male Edition!

Sam Claflin “The Quiet Ones”
Paul Walker “Brick Mansion”
Tom Hardy “Locke”
Nicholas Cage “Joe”

Wrap them altogether and you’ve got a quadruple decker man sammich, topped with scruffy rugged goodness. A touch of sensitivity and a heart to protect. Add an accent or two, some baby blues….ooo perfection. I’m stuffed!

Buuuut are their movies worth the big screen???

Tucked away in an estate outside of London, Professor Coupland along with a team of university students conduct an “experiment” on Jane Harper, a young girl who harbors unspeakable secrets **totally cut n pasted**

I really had not planned to see this movie. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not really into scary/horror but my son really wanted to see it. Despite my inner desire to go home and vegetate, we headed to Icon. This time, I was the one that fully expected to nod off. I closed my eyes a few times but only because I didn’t want to see what was coming next. It held my attention and it wasn’t as boring as I thought it was going to be. It had a few catcha off guard moments. It’s a movie inspired by actual events, The Phillip Experiments so it was interesting to see comparison footage at the end.

Sam Claflin as Brian McNeil, shy film student. Cutie alert!! Hadn’t realized he’s been in quite a few popular movies. (Hunger Games, Snow White and the Huntsman….) He’s a versatile actor.

I really like the “The Quiet Ones” image. I wish I could have one of those t-shirts. Surprising, I think its worth the big screen. It’s just one of those movies that if you watch it on the big screen it draws you in. If you Redbox it, you may be tempted to wash dishes or do laundry. screening April 24th

In “Brick Mansions” Paul Waller is Damien Collier, undercover narcotics cop. He could have been guy crossing street, I still would watch. This movie has lots of action right from the start. Not all of it is necessarily believable but it’s action nonetheless. David Belle as Lino Dupree is entertainingly acrobatic. I wasn’t really familiar with RZA but I did catch his appearance on Wendy Williams. That thick NY accent is pretty hot but in the movie I was confused. Was his character, Tremaine Alexander, from Detroit or did he move there as a child because there is no mistaking that dialect.

I think I’m the only person in the world that refuses to believe that Paul Walker is really gone and I’m ok with that. I mean, I just saw him in “Brick Mansions”, right? This movie is dedicated to his memory.

IF you are interested in action and supporting the movie because of Paul, then check it out on the big screen. If not, then it’s ok to save this one for Redbox. screening April 23

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. I’m a huge Tom Hardy fan…huge! I avoided reading too much about it because I wanted to be objective. However, I did find out that the entire movie takes place in his car. So now I’m wondering….how’s that going to work for 85 min?

I’m such a nosy, spoiled movie watcher. I want to know, I need to know, darn-it! Give me everything and leave nothing to my imagination but the sheer brilliance of this film is that it gives you just enough and leaves you to create, Ivan’s journey is your journey as well.

Tom Hardy is Ivan Locke. I had to ask, is it me or is his accent different and his character demeanor completely hypnotic? I found myself agreeing with his actions even though they’re obviously questionable. Hardy delivers an engrossing performance.

The live Q&A following the film with director Stephen Knight was a bonus.

**Not sure how I felt about the Chicago reference but I forgive**

I really enjoyed this film on the big screen. However, I would have enjoyed it just as much had I Redboxed it, watched with mood lighting and a chilled beverage while relaxing on my comfy chaise. screening April 13th

Last but certainly not least….
OH “Joe”

“Joe” is an amazing film. I believe Nicolas Cage fully deserves an Oscar nomination and win for his performance.

Nicholas Cage as Joe Ransom is unlike I’ve ever seen him before. A mature hard working man caring about the lives of others while struggling with his own personal demons. Tye Sheridan is Gary Jones, a homeless teenage boy carrying the burden of caring for his highly dysfunctional family. Kindred spirits meet in this film and take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Nicholas all scruffy and down to earth is extremely sexy. Nothing like a mature man with a little salt n pepper, ragged jeans and the willingness to get his hands dirty. Hard on the outside with a heart of gold on the inside? Yes! This movie is gritty and intense. Tye Sheridan is very convincing as a southern young man. Truly an up in comer. We should see more and more of him.

The live Q&A with Director David Gordon Green and Tye Sheridan was a real treat. Green has a wicked sense of humor. It was fun.

Definitely worth the big screen. I will Redbox it just because I’d like to see Cage deliver such a grand performance again. Shirtless works too. screening April 2

Of Course “Heaven is for Real”!

“Heaven is for Real”? Of course it is! How else would you explain Brad Pitt and Joe Manganiello.
But is it worth the big screen? Weeelll….
I was looking forward to this screening. I’m a Greg Kinnear fan and his performance as a minister is moving. This a very sweet movie and you get the message. I enjoyed it. However, I personally don’t think it’s worth the big screen. It’s more of a made for TV special…Hallmark Channel? Word Network?
I would not have paid to see this movie BUT releasing it during resurrection weekend….SMART!!

screening April 14th

Oculus, Rio 2, Noah & Pirate Fairy

It’s been a busy few weeks of movie screenings. Instead of full reviews of each experience, I thought I’d share some quick highlights.

I’m really not into scary movies. At least not like I used to be when Freddy Kruger and Jason was around but I thought I would be adventurous and check out “Oculus”. Not as scary as I thought it was going to be but it slightly messes with your head. I’d probably Redbox this one. They just don’t make scary movies like they use to. Screened April 9, 2014

“Rio 2” is super cute! The soundtrack will have you movin’ n groovin’! I thought it was better than the first one. Kristin Chenoweth’s character is adorable. It’s worth taking the kids to see on the big screen in 3D.  April 5, 2014

“Noah” was really intense. Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly were amazing. I wouldn’t go with judgements because it’s not meant to be completely biblically accurate. It’s entertainment. Very much worth the big screen, IMAX if possible. non-screening, March 29, 2014

“Pirate Fairy” is adorable, it would not be a disappointing DVD purchase for the kiddies. March 29, 2014

“The Other Woman” is worth a girls night out!

This movie is so good I thought I would add the trailer. This is the ultimate chick flick! I laughed so hard, I couldn’t believe it. I fully plan to buy this movie and add it to my “top movies I would watch over and over again” collection.

I dragged my poor son to see this with me because after all he is my movie buddy. He dreaded it and completely prepared himself to fall asleep. But there were a few parts where he even chuckled. He told me not mention his thoughts in my blog for risk of losing cool points, so shhhh don’t tell.

What could be funny about a cheating husband? Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton with a Don Johnson cameo.

Incidentally, Cameron Diaz is in 3 of my top ten movies I’d watch over and over again….”Sweet Thing” and “The Holiday” are the other two. What is it about her that she seems to do comedic actress so well? I don’t know but I’m a fan.

Grab your girls, make it a girls night out or take your significant other and make it a date night! Either way you should have fun. In theaters April 25

Worth the big screen all the way!
Then watch on Redbox and Netflix
and again on cable!

“A Haunted House 2” LOL 2

Did you see “A Haunted House”?? If you did, then you know what to expect…..gross humor. I saw the first one so I mentally prepared myself for more of the same but I have to say that this one may have been a little less gross and more humor. Raw humor that pushes the envelope but funny.

**Parents this movie is rated R for a reason so please beware***
I really debated about allowing my son to see it but he did see the first one and he’s a fan of Jaime Pressly. I covered his eyes a few times. Well at least I tried.

Yes….yes I was thiiiissss close.

I really love and completely admire actors, producers, directors and/or writers that actually take the time to meet and greet with fans. Q&A’s are the absolute best and if you’re fortunate enough to grab a good photo or even a selfie, awesome! This was the best Q&A yet. Marlon with Gabriel Iglesias and Affion Crockett was super funny. They looked good and even stopped to take a few pictures with the crowd. My son and I really enjoyed it.

Marlon Wayans is even more sexy in person than he is on TV or the big screen. He is tall and you can tell he works out. Really nice especially in this photo with my son.

I don’t normally have a rating system but I’ve decided to let you know if a movie is:

Worth the Big screen
Redbox or Netflix it
Just wait for Cable

A Haunted House 2 is worth the big screen for a twisted, good belly laugh and hot shots of Marlon’s toned bod.
