John Wick

I read WordPress: The Daily Post a few days ago and it caught my eye….
You get to spend a day inside your favorite movie, tell us which one that is, and what happens to you while you’re there.

I thought about a few of my favorites, Pretty Woman or Under The Tuscan Sun. I didn’t post but in my mind, I chose Midnight in Paris. I would spend the day in Paris and embark on a time travel adventure in the evening. But I’ve changed my mind….

Keanu Reeves as John Wick, is grieving the loss of his wife when Russian criminals break into his house to steal his 1969 Ford Mustang and eliminate the last gift from his late wife. Poor doggie Daisy.

I would step right into this movie for a day.
I’d have to lose about 30ish Lbs so I wouldn’t appear ready for food instead of ready for action…
I’d wear all black….
I’d get that Brazilian straight hair, black….
I’d get killer stilettos…
Jonaya Wick!
I’d be the Bonnie to John’s (Keanu’s) Clyde….
I’d spend the whole day kickin’ butt, no names, with my boo….Call me John Wick (Keanu)

I know what you’re thinking, we’ve seen this “anger-revenge” type movie before. Liam Neeson is the King of the “anger-revenge” genre but here’s what I like-love about John Wick/Keanu Reeves…

John Wick has a sense of humor even in the midst of a heart wrenching and gruesome situation…

John Wick doesn’t say much and shouldn’t have to because action speaks louder than words….

John Wick’s reputation proceeds him. What he was and who he is has already been established. He returns to the places of his past and “everybody knows his name”….

John Wick has music as a sidekick. The soundtrack has such an impact on setting the tone and enhancing the thrilling action in this movie. I’ve downloaded a few of my favs….

I’ve always believed that Keanu Reeves had that sweet simple unassuming sex appeal.
As John Wick, he appears to be an average guy with a nice car and cute little dog but underneath he’s so much more.
The mature Keanu is long, lean and in great physical shape. Those slow-mo action shots with that music was evv-errr-yyything!
“Everyone keeps asking me if I’m back. I didn’t have an answer at first but now, yeah, I’m thinkin’ I’m back!!

Yes you are, Keanu!

Of course it’s worth the big screen! I hope to see it again, rent it on Redbox then buy it and watch it over and over again.

St Vincent

St. Vincent stars Bill Murray as Vincent De Van Nuys, Mellissa McCarthy as Maggie and Naomi Wattts as Daka.

I had a choice last night Keanu Reeves or Bill Murray. You’d think it would be my handsome long time love, Keanu but I chose the classic stud, Bill Murray who has tickled my funny bone for years. For a half split second, I wondered if I had made the right choice, I did.

Here’s what I think happened….

Bill Murray asks his agent,

“What ya got for me, Marty?” (Because all agents are named Marty)

“How about working with Melissa McCarthy? you’re both from Illinois and comedians….
She’s a struggling single mom, you’re a down on your luck grumpy gambling drunk old man that helps her with her son and your girlfriend is a hooker?”

“What else ya got?”

“Fifty Shades of Grey…”

This is so not true but it would be hilarious if it was.

Vincent is sad, sloppy and looks like he has offensive body odor. Bill Murray appeared so comfortable in this role, I wondered if he showed up to set that way.
Melissa McCarthy plays the straight woman as Maggie, struggling single mom going thru a bitter divorce from her cheating husband when she moves next door to Vincent.
Daka is a pregnant “lady of the night” and has a strange relationship with Vincent. Naomi Watts had my son chuckling and asking is she was really Russian.

St. Vincent is supposed to be a comedy but is more of dramedy. I teared up. I tried to hide it so I wouldn’t lose cool points. I pretended to scratch my cheek and I held in the sniffle. It was heartwarming to see that in the end family isn’t always the one you’re born into and there are saints in disguise among us.

If your looking for a family friendly movie to catch this weekend, I’d say its worth the big screen. Stay while the credits are rolling, one of the best parts of the film. It’s Oscar season, I wouldn’t be surprised if it grabbed a nom or two.

St Vincent Tickets here!

The life of a movie screener is a crazy one. The one thing I tell my sister all the time is that you have to “commit to the crazy” because screening movies on a regular basis is not for everyone. I will go into more detail at a later time.

It was cold and rainy last night. I didn’t have an umbrella and I thought about going home several times but of course since I have completely committed to the crazy, I met my son and with my jacket and new work shoes slightly wet, I headed to ICON.

There were three screenings last night. I had passes to see “The Good Lie” because I missed it a couple of weeks ago but I also had tickets to see “The Theory of Everything”. What I didn’t have were special passes to see FURY. I should actually be sitting in the theater watching it at this moment instead of updating but thanks to some movie screening buddies, I was able to screen FURY instead.

I will be the first to admit, I’m not a huge fan of war type movies. The gore and sadness of it all is not appealing. However, it’s Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf. Enough said. (By the way Shia, I think you’re still famous)

I had to do a little research on this one folks and guess what? It is not an adaptation of a book I haven’t read, go figure. FURY was written and directed by David Ayer who was born in Illinois. Interesting. He is best known for Training Day and most recently, Sabotage.

FURY is a Sherman tank with its crew of five brave American soldiers in the U.S. Army, battling Nazi Germans during World War II in April 1945.

Brad Pitt

Seriously, I could stop right here and just stare at his photo.

Brad Pitt, stars as the Don “wardaddy” Collier, Staff Sergeant, head man in charge of his Crew. After many battles together, throughout Europe, Sherman Tank has become his home, their home.

I believe this role took Brad to another level as an Actor. Of course, I could be wrong but then again, it’s just my opinion. There was so much expression and emotion in his eyes. He really didn’t even need to speak, his eyes told the story. Despite not being able to understand the dialog a few times, Brad speaking German was pretty hot. He nailed it!

Supporting cast Shia LaBeouf as Boyd “Bible” Swan, Logan Lerman as Norman “Cobb” Ellision, Michael Pena as Trini “Gordo” Garcia and Jon Bernthal as Grady Travis.
FURY is intense, there’s plenty of action and testosterone. However, I was surprised by the underlying sensitivity portrayed by this crew considering how much graphic killing is involved. The relationship of these characters in the midst of a brutal war adds an endearing depth that invokes a lot of emotion and keeps you hanging on to the veeeerry last moment of the film.

ABSOLUTELY worth the big screen! It’s hitting theaters just in time for Oscar season, I’m predicting multiple nominations, I’d be shocked if didn’t get at least 1 nod.

Let’s see…
The last time I borrowed from the library or a friend was in 1989 or 1999? Ok maybe last summer. My printer hates me so I was in the local library to print. I checked out a book just to make sure my card still worked.

I do like online quizzes but I completely heart Cyndi Lauper. In my head, we’ve met and she hearts me too.

Books: anything from The Prey series by John Sanford. I like mystery and intrigue.

My favorite cake: Carmel or Carrot, mainly because they begin with C.

The post I wrote about the “Lets Be Cops” screening. I chuckled when I wrote it and someone said they liked it, so now it’s one of my favs.

I love to laugh, I hate when I can’t

I’m not heavily into You Tube so I can’t really think of a video that always make me laugh but I did watch the “All about that Bass” video a few times. The guy doing the split, hilarious!

Of course Scandal is the hottest thing on TV at the moment. However, The Mysteries of Laura is super cool. (Shameless plug because she retweeted me) 👈

I always get pumped when I hear songs by Chris Brown, I pretend I’m a background dancer but don’t tell anyone, please!!! #cougarcrush

I haven’t updated yet but I recommend “The Theory of Everything” because it’s a beautiful film.

Did I do this correctly?! Probably not…but this has been so fun! I really am grateful! Thank you again!

I guess I better get to nominating! Need to think of questions, then update….
